For my Venus sequence I took pics using my trusty orange Celestron 8 from 1983 starting on Feb 21 and ending on August 1, 2015 through a 742+nm filter and a skyris 132m camera. Typically 500 out of 5000 frames were used... It demonstrates the geometry of Venus overtaking Earth on the inner track. ;)

What happens when the lights turn off
Copyright: Magí Sanjosé

Sunday night July 19, something magical happened. A town discovered the Milky Way above its houses. The residents and the mayor of the town of Rupit, near Barcelona, decided to turn off the lights of the town and their houses at 12 o'clock at night to see if they could see the Milky Way up above them. They had never seen it before because of the artificial lights. Before the magical moment, a small group of excited people expected it while eating a sandwich, watching how the clouds were gradually disappearing. And at 12 o'clock artificial lights switched off... and lit the stars! The Milky Way appeared resplendent above the houses, in front of the eyes of the speechless neighbors. The photographer Magi Sanjosé captured the moment with his camera making a total of 14 vertical photos.

When processing my Milky Way image I noticed a meteor in one of the images. After seeing this post on the internet: I thought what if? Could it be that I had something like this also? And it shows that it was indeed also an expanding cloud here... WOW!!!! I think this is quite a unique observation...

Here is an image of the strike itself combined with the second image from the series. You can clearly see the plasma cloud coming from the meteor and that it was accompanied by at least 4 more pieces of debris. Also it seems there was a break-up event and a piece of debris came off...

You already saw my comment on FB, but I should say again this is just a really good, serendipitous shot!
Just call me "geck" because "zilla" is like a last name.

Blue Moon Among The Columns of Segesta Temple bis
Dariogiannobile.com
Copyright: Dario Giannobile
Segesta is one of the most important cities of the Elymians, an ancient people known for its culture and tradition descendant of the Trojans.Outside the walls, along the ancient entrance roads to the city, there are two important sacred places: the Doric Temple (430-420 B.C.) and the Sanctuary of Contrada Mango (VI-V sec. B.C.).
Here the Juy 2015 blue moon has been captured among the columns. Two consecutive shots to compensate for different light conditions.
