360° Aurora Borealis Virtual Reality Experience

On March 17 in 2013 we had a big aurora over Östersund, Sweden. I've done a virtual reality experience from my time lapse I recorded then so that you can pan around watching the aurora from any angle. You can also right click the video to change the projection type. The animation shows the aurora over a 4 hour time span. It consist of 2,461 raw images for a total data amout of 30 Gb.

Moonlight Skating
http://www.astrofotografen.se
Copyright: Göran Strand A couple of nights ago me and two friends of mine went ice skating on a frozen lake near Östersund, Sweden. This night was really magic, no wind, lots of ice crystals in the air and an almost full Moon that shined upon us during our two hours out on the ice. In the movie you can see the constellation of Orion to the right of the Moon and down left of the Moon you can see planet Jupiter shining brightly. Nights like these are almost to good to be true.

M31 from a city centre

Post by Jessun » Fri Dec 12, 2014 12:00 am

Hello!

I was curious to see what M31 would look like from the centre of a large city (Lyon in France).

With some emphasis on Ha and 200h total exposure time (11 panel mosaic) - north up - it looks something like this:

Sad to come back from vacation and boring during the flight from Mexico City to my home town in Sonora, I suddenly open the plane window and got amazed by three sundogs around the real one covered by the wing.
