After the sunset, i sent my friend on the top of one large hill and i wait for the moment... and fight agasint the mosquitoes.

Re: Submissions: 2014 October
October 8th, 2014. Patchy cloud comes and goes throughout the night. But by morning, it has cleared away.
This is my view of the Total Lunar Eclipse, looking south from Lake Carlos State Park, Alexandria Minnesota.
The composite multi-frame panorama was captured at around 5:30am CST this morning in a wonderfully clear Midwest autumn sky.
In the darkness of totality, the moon is a deep rust colour. The Milky Way shines through, as do constellations like Orion, Sirius, Gemini, and others.
Rising in the east, Jupiter challenges for brightest object in the sky, but noticeably, Jupiter rises within a wedge of Zodiacal Light, all visible during totality.
A morning to remember.

Reflection Nebula and Star Cluster in Cepheus side by side, a tricky one to process. Got lots of data, 400 mins Luminance , 150 mins R, G and Blue.

Orbital Resonance 1-2-4
I filmed the movement of Jupiter's moons (1:09 am - 4:34 am UTC). Io (exiting the disk), Europa (right) and Ganymede (left). Took 66 videos in 60GiB video data, stacked the individual videos as frames and then overlayed these frames to get this picture. To my surprise not only the moons' orbits showed up but also the resonance. Part of Ganymede's tail is missing due to bad framing and part of Io's trail is in front of the planet's disk. Anyway, it is clear that Io leaves the loongest tail, Europa about half and Ganymede half of Europa's. North is up, East is left. The GRS is also visible.

I composed the frames making up the picture shown above as an animgif timelapse video. The GIF is huge (~2.6 MiB) so mobile users: careful. http://csillagtura.ro/wp-content/upload ... nimgif.gif

Re: Submissions: 2014 October
On 8th Oct. when the Lunar eclipse occurred, the night is darken enough, and the splendid milky way appeared clearly! It is the only way on the ground to see bright milky way at full moon. I made a panoramic photograph with this scenery. At the top of Mountain Ling around Bejing, the haze and mist are under the foot and coloured by city light. Also plenty of green airglow was showing up to make this view more spectacular. However, the site inside this time zone may be the only place to see the Milky Way and Lunar Eclipse at the same time. If we go west, total eclipse will done at the end of astronomical twilight. And if we move eastward, the milky way will be too low above the horizon.
