Southern Sky at night about 8pm

Post by drypitstop » Thu Sep 18, 2014 11:35 am

I am new at this, I like looking at the milky way stars , I noticed several weeks ago just southwest that a orange or pinkish star slowly changing position from west to east. Last night while looking at the constellation of Scorpio that this orange or pinkish star is almost right at the claws of the scorpion. Is this a satellite or is it Mars or something else? ....................................Dennis I Yuma Arizona

At the moment, Mars is nightly moving relatively quickly eastward, relative to the stars, past Dschubba, in the "forehead" of Scorpius.
