April 15th lunar eclipse
Hey gang-
Im hearing a lot about this lunar eclipse, which is slated to arrive in my neck of the woods at 3am EST, April 15th. Is a lunar eclipse something that happens quickly and dramatically- like a solar eclipse or is this something where the moon gradually changes color? Just curious if I should be camped out at 230 getting ready to see something amazing happen or is this something where I can stay in bed and get up at my normal time (4 am ) and see it when Im walking my dog?
Thanks for any information.

So since San Fran is three time zones to your west, just add 3 hours to those times for when those events will happen for you.

Those times are UTC. For EDT, subtract four hours.BDanielMayfield wrote:So since San Fran is three time zones to your west, just add 3 hours to those times for when those events will happen for you.

Re: April 15th lunar eclipse
Actually they are both. The first time is UTC and the second time is SF Local PDT

Re: April 15th lunar eclipse
Probably not, because the forecast is for rain.

The entire eastern half of the U.S. is smothered in cloud cover. Guess we'll have to rely on the western half to watch for us.

The entire eastern half of the U.S. won't feel obligated to get up at 3:46 AM.geckzilla wrote:

I am usually awake at that hour, anyhow. I saw the moon last night as it was low and behind some haze, though. It was pretty and yellowed.

American chestnut pollen.

This tree is not considered a particularly good patio shade tree because its droppings are prolific and a considerable nuisance. Catkins in the spring, spiny nut pods in the fall, and leaves in the early winter can all be a problem. These characteristics are more or less common to all shade trees, but perhaps not to the same degree as with the chestnut. The spiny seed pods are a particular nuisance when scattered over an area frequented by people.>>

Re: April 15th lunar eclipse
Maybe. I do have a personal hypothesis that it is dustier here than it is in rural areas because the cars are constantly kicking it up with their tires like a constantly stampeding herd. I don't think it gets very high though. It just settles all over my house (and especially inside my computer!) so fast that I can barely keep it clean. We could all lay a piece of tape face up in our houses for a week and then put another piece of tape over it once the week is done to measure the rate of dust accumulation.

Re: April 15th lunar eclipse
Well, what a bummer!!! Went out this am and knew the weather forecast was going to be correct- cloud cover and ugly rain. Took my pooch for an uneventful walk before heading to the gym. Good thing there are still 3 more chances!!
