Reminds me of Brutus, the Dane we adopted in December. We haven't had any eaten couches (that's unusual Dane behavior), but we've largely lost use of one!Beyond wrote:Freddy.

Re: Pets
Lucky, lucky rescue dogs. Brutus knows exactly how to use that couch. The sandy one matches it well enough that I almost didn't see her in the first image.
Just call me "geck" because "zilla" is like a last name.

Re: Pets
New Additions
A few days late. Hershey had three kids, two boys, one girl. We were expecting just two. The white guy is a little weak, not sure how he'll do. If all three make it, we might be bottle feeding for a while, since goats only have two teats. But good mothers can make that work. Hershey seems to have her act together, even though this is her first kidding. She picked a good day- it's 50°F out, the warmest day of the year. Snow's melting fast.

He seems to be doing better. This updates every minute... so far they're staying in view of the camera.geckzilla wrote:Come on, white mini-goat, you can do it!

Re: Pets
Has the white one stood up yet? I've come back several times to look and he's always laying down. Mom and kids are all currently resting in the view as I type this.

Re: Pets
He's having problems standing. He's bigger than the others- not a runt, just weak. But when held up, he guzzled down a lot of milk. They've all eaten now.geckzilla wrote:Has the white one stood up yet? I've come back several times to look and he's always laying down. I can't see the updates, though. Is there just something wrong with my computer, or my connection, or the country I'm in, or something?

It's just a link to a jpeg that gets replaced every minute. Sometimes there's a bad frame, but usually it's fine. I see the current image inside your quote. Not sure why you don't see it. There are no geographical restrictions imposed at my end.Ann wrote:Lovely kids, Chris!

Maybe the stars of Capricornus? (Although these kids are perhaps too far from the sea.)geckzilla wrote:What is the naming theme for goats? Candy? Food named after places?
Edit: and not that I'm aware of a star named Hershey.

The kids should be called Almaaz, Sadatoni and Hoedus II, after the three stars in Auriga, Capella's kids.Nitpicker wrote:Maybe the stars of Capricornus? (Although these kids are perhaps too far from the sea.)geckzilla wrote:What is the naming theme for goats? Candy? Food named after places?

Yes, but it also says that satisfaction (in this case a treat) brought it back.

Re: Pets
Yeah, doing better. He was third out the hatch, which means there could have been some minor hypoxia. Just means a couple of days to get some muscle tone. As our vet said, it's not like a goat's going to miss a few brain cells. The girl is taking milk on her own. The boys still need to be aimed a bit. Very cold tonight, but warming again the next days. I expect they'll be heading out into the goat yard to start bouncing around a bit, and meet the rest of the herd... ten now!geckzilla wrote:He's up!
