Another environment where natural plant circles occur is in deserts. The above article mentioned some in Namibia, but examples can also be found in the American Southwest, from here in Texas west to California and in Northern Mexico. Very old creosote bush clonal colonies often take on round shapes. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creosote_bush
