Well, see that? It needed to be said, and you should have, but didn't, so i had to fill in and as a result neufer threw a Beyond-toon at me, that really should have been a Nitpicker-toonNitpicker wrote:I knew you were going to say that (because I only just managed to stop myself from doing so).Beyond wrote:Plum(b) jelly or jam, is good alsoNitpicker wrote:You're a braver girl than me! Neufer threw the same toon at me a while back. See:

Ah yes. I had forgetted. Just too much stuff to keep track of at the Asterisk*, for me anyway. Must be part of neufer's going green plan. Recycling everything to get the most use out of it. It's plum(b) good, if you can do it.Nitpicker wrote:Neufer threw the same toon at me a while back. See:

Just call me "geck" because "zilla" is like a last name.

But one must probe often to discover where the 'limits' are. 'Some' just do it more than others.

Re: Stream of Stuff
I can't look at them without thinking of roly polies.

Yup! I feel sorry for the fish but none of them are harmful to humans. There are giant ones that look like huge, chubby roly polies which I actually think are cute.Pill-bugs can be considered pests of homes and gardens. They are, however, cherished among children, who enjoy keeping them as pets.

The Wikipedia link you posted, geckzilla, also had this to say-->They are sometimes caught and fed to pets such as lizards, but this is not recommended since those animals might become poisoned.

Re: Stream of Stuff
It's also surprisingly difficult to get the usual insectivores to eat a roly poly. I've never seen a lizard eat one and if you throw one in a spider web there is a good chance it will get tossed out like garbage or ignored until it falls off on its own. Not sure why. They seem to be inedible.

Re: Stream of Stuff
I've made soup from them. Very good, quite similar to lobster bisque (but they don't change color when you boil them). I can't speak for lizards, but they are most definitely edible- choice- to humans.geckzilla wrote:It's also surprisingly difficult to get the usual insectivores to eat a roly poly. I don't think we're going to run out any time soon. As a protein source, bugs are much more sustainable than, say, beef.geckzilla wrote:Seriously, the little guys?

Re: Stream of Stuff
No more than lobster or shrimp. And you can always go for earthworms, which are pretty much no-skeletonny.geckzilla wrote:Well, yeah, they just seem so...exoskeletonny.

Re: Stream of Stuff
Sure, but there's a lot more meat-to-exoskeleton ratio for a lobster or a shrimp.

Re: Stream of Stuff
It's a lot easier to catch a thousand pill bugs than it is to catch one lobster, though. Heck, you could keep a farm of thousands on a small shelf in your garage.geckzilla wrote:Sure, but there's a lot more meat-to-exoskeleton ratio for a lobster or a shrimp.
