how does this happen?

So my dad took a picture of the moon and it showed two instead of one moon how does that happen

Internal reflections within the camera or shooting a photo through a double pane glass window can also cause the effect. We have a lengthy thread on such a topic. http://asterisk.apod.com/viewtopic.php?t=17170
