Looks real. Still incredibly small compared with the parent mass, of course. And smaller than I'd expect to make such a big hole in the ice from simply falling through at a relatively low speed. I'd be interested in an analysis of that process. Maybe somebody could drop a rock out of a helicopter next year when the ice conditions are similar.

Well, don't forget it broke into 3-pieces when they tried to lift it up to weigh it. There may very well be more of it in the lake, especially in smaller pieces.

Yes, I'd expect it to be far too small. In fact, I'd expect a 1.5 m rock to make approximately a 1.5 m hole. So this would seem to be related to the "splash", or some other radial energy transport. That's what I'd like to see examined in some detail.
