Re: Favorite APOD
This APOD is a favorite because the instant I saw it, I was thrown into a temporary manic state. It was so unexpected and entertaining. I didn’t know such a thing existed. It reminded me of the depth of APOD and its Discussion threads… what with all the people’s work that's contained within its web corridors. I think a BWE would make a good tool for digging through the gobs of information and SA* peopleisms!

Re: Favorite APOD
There are soooo many beautiful apods that I think it's very hard to tell a favorite one. Perhaps we should ask what's the worst apod
One recent Apod I love is this one: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap120429.html
Perhaps my worst Apod should be this one: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap950616.html
But as it is the first Apod, this also could be a favorite one!

APOD is a recent discovery to me as well as Starship Asterisk. This is the first time I have seen this photo and I agree that it is magnificent. The more I learn about the universe the more astounded I become. Who knows what the next discoveries will be?

I think that today's picture is beautiful as well http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap121120.html

You ever see a photo and you just love it? You don't know why and can't explain it? Well this apod does it to me.
it just fills me with a sense of wonder at how vast things actually are. I also love the detail on the dust lanes of the galaxy. simply amazing

Re: Favorite APOD
Someone at NASA did, according to the Goddard Twitter feed. I learned about the article at Bad Astronomy.

what makes it more special is it was taken on my birthday, apart from the 2007 bit of course.

Re: Favorite APOD
I don't know how to choose either;
although it is very close to home, the Iceland volcano cloud and lightning has to rank as one of the most memorable for me...
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140420.html
at the opposite end of the scale, the Hubble Deep field view gets me thinking...
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap121014.html
and my last pick of today, the Einstein rings plus galaxies plus (dark matter) plus supernova - wow! a real bonanza...

Re: Favorite APOD
i have to say, my favorite has to be this one: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap050605.html this shows everything from the north american to the lagoon nebula. so far i see: the north american, gamma cygni, the veil, the eagle, omega, triffid, and the lagoon; im sure there are a few others im missing, anyone care to elaborate?
