Note that Strange Streak took 3 days to fill up 25 Asterisk pages.geckzilla wrote:
Only 61 more pages of marshmallows, pillows, flying squirrels, and ravioli to go and this thread will tie with the Strange Streak thread, Asterisk's long time reigning champion for replies. Strange Streak has been #1 since 2004.
What is the record # of pages for one day (and/or the first day)?

The Toasted Marshmallow Nebula

I thought that the APOD description made it obvious, but obviously not. "the resolved, layered, and dust-laced features of NGC 7027 might remind sky enthusiasts of a familiar icon that could be the basis for an informal name."
They are hoping that you would all say "STARSHIP ASTERISK NEBULA".

Yes, I would agree with the "flying Squirrel Nebula", but would also also suggest "The Flying Fox Nebula"

I think it looks like a piece of ravioli. But mostly it looks like a massive brain.
The Brain Nebula or The Ravioli Nebula

It looks like a storm cloud with rain pouring underneath, so... the Thunderhead Nebula?

We already have a "Fox Nebula" which looks much
more like a "Flying Fox Nebula" than today's APOD.

Looks like a pillow with a rocket thrust tail therefore: "Rocket Pillow Nebula"

Rabbit Tail Nebula
Re: APOD: Bright Planetary Nebula NGC 7027... (2013 Aug 26)
"Casper" -- it looks like a vaguely humanoid ghost...

I thought of "pillow" before I saw the list...seems like someone else had the same idea I'd call it the "Pillow Nebula>"
