APOD: Bright Planetary Nebula NGC 7027... (2013 Aug 26)

Did anybody catch the original Star Trek symbol of the star flying through the circle? Or was that Nasa?

Nobody is going for their linked hint, eh? Apparently the answer they are looking for is HEDGEHOG.
Admittedly, the thing does look like a marshmallow or pillow. But bear in mind that most planetary nebulae look like that
in this early stage, due to the nature of explosions in space. It is not the color or texture so much as the overall shape that should name and define the thing.
And, it does look a lot like Sonic the Hedgehog's head.
Still, it looks more like a pillowcase.

NGC 7027 looks like the "Mermaid's Purse Nebula". A mermaids purse is a shark egg case, also known as a chondrichthyes. Not all shark egg cases look like this, but many do.

It looks like a Ravioli, or a pillow

I concur with several other posts here - It is most obviously "The Pillow Nebula".

Just call me "geck" because "zilla" is like a last name.

The "pillow nebula" seems opportune to me.

While I agree with many posts, it looks like a pillow, however, since I am hungry I think I will suggest "Frosted Mini-Wheats".

Flying Squirrel was my first thought. Happy to see others agree

How about something snappy like "Pentacle superimposed on a circle nebula"?
Re: APOD: Bright Planetary Nebula NGC 7027... (2013 Aug 26)
This nebula reminds me of "Casper the Friendly Ghost." I submit that name.

Spider Egg Nebula.
Doesn't that give a warm fuzzy feeling? Thinking of billions of cosmic spiders emerging when they hatch out.

“The Galactic Fluffy Pillow”. or just “The Galactic Pillow” but I like the former.
