That's just lovely! Quite fantastic!
Great tit. Photo: Raghuvanshi Rajesh
Once, many years ago, I was walking through one of our parks here in Malmö. I think it was winter, or at least, spring hadn't made it very far. Suddenly a great tit came flying my way, almost right at me, as if it was asking me for something. It was asking me for food, of course!

I couldn't help it. I held out my hand, even though I had nothing to offer. Sure enough, the bird landed in my hand! But it flew away immediately, as it realized that I had no food to give it.

I got an attack of acute bad conscience, so I started bringing some old bread with me when I went out so that I could offer the birds some, if I came across another one who wanted me to feed it. After a couple of weeks, when I was walking through that park again, a saw a great tit again and thought it was the same individual. I quickly reached into my bag of shredded bread and held out some crumbs to the bird. Even though it was a great tit and would have preferred some fattier food, it nevertheless flew down to me and took the bread crumbs out of my hand.

What was so special about it is that I have never seen birds as small as great tits eat out of people's hands in our public parks.

Sassy used to hate getting her feet wet, and always avoided wet areas! today she surprised me and walked right through a puddle on the drive! :lol2: I did a double take as the water in the puddle was at least an inch deep! (my drive has some issues from tree roots) :puppy:

Human parents for abandoned baby gorilla Gladys
Human surrogate parents are raising a baby gorilla at a zoo in the US after she was rejected by her own mother.

Two-month-old Gladys is being cared for by a team of 10 keepers who work in shifts around the clock.
They emphasise that Gladys is NOT a 'pet' - but I thought I'd post it here anyway! I can't link the video here, but clicking the link takes you to the BBC page that has it. It really is worth watching: the dedication to bringing her up as a gorilla is impressive.

It's spring here, well at least my calendar tells so.
So I thought I insert a bad pet joke here.

"Mom, where are tampons put in?"

"Where the babies come from."

"Into a stork?"

Arecibo observatory has a tumbir site of its cats... I haven't linked any photos here as they are rather large files.

And I love it that this was the last book he published! His royalties go to the Cats' Protection League.

PS. My only quarrel is with the term 'people' - it should be 'humans'. Every cat that I have had the privilege to be permitted to live with has been more of a 'person' than the majority of humans I've known :lol2:

I agree with you that cats are "persons" - or at least they have fantastic personalities! :D

ha-ha-ha, I've got that deadly ray condition in my house right now. But no pets to show the effect. Maybe I'll go take a nap in the chair.

Sassy got sick with some kind of dog flu Friday! She really had me worried but today she is starting to feel a bit better. She hasn't eaten since Friday and today she is starting to nibble a little! I had her at the vet and they gave her antibodies and filled her with fluids! I'm glad that today she is starting to feel her own self a little!

:lol2: I remember seeing that a long time ago. That cat's like photons. They behave differently when you're watching them. But they don't bark or meow, and you can't 'pet' them.

A Japanese hamster owner built his pet a little Ninja house for it to roam around in. A two minute video of it going through it. Also a short video of the hamster stuffing corn-on-the-cob into it's cheek pouch. I never realized their pouches were so big! It looks like it almost goes halfway along the hamster.
