This would make an excellent followup APOD to Tuesday's! This warped superthin galaxy has a large band of PAH's around its edges, more here: http://arxiv.org/abs/0708.3808

6 Panel Mosaic of the Gamma Cygni Region

each panel consists of

3x20 minute Hydrogen-Alpha(used as Red & Luminance)- 6 hours
3x10 minute Blue & Green/each-4hours
3x10 minute Blue & Green(bin 2x2)*-2 hour
total integration time(so far) 12 hours.

Taken with AT65EDQ & QHY9M

While I was doing my Gammi Cyg mosaic, I thought a couple of areas would look good in narrowband. This area is IC 1318B (top) and NGC 6910(bottom right)

Taken with
AT65EDQ & QHY9M

3x20 minutes Ha(green)
4x20 minute OIII(blue)
4x20 minute SII(red)

NGC 3766 in Centaurus

A bright pretty and crowded open star cluster. Through the eyepiece the stars looks like pearls and there comes it nickname. It was discovered by Abbe Lacaille in 1752 from South Africa. It is also a good binocular target even for light polluted skies. From a dark sky NGC 3766 can be glimpsed with naked eyes.

Recently astronomers at ESO in La Silla Observatory in Chile discovered a new type of variables stars with very small changes in its brightness.

Searching for exoplanets
The Danish 1.54 meter telescope hard at work at La Silla, Chile. It is looking for anomalous microlensing events towards the centre of the Milky Way. Such an event might indicate the presence of an exoplanet.

Star rain in the desert
Star trails over the Atacama desert in Chile. Snow covers the distant mountain tops, and soft clouds can be seen near the horizon to the left.
