A Spotty Sunset

On May 3rd, 2013 smoke from nearby forest fires tinted the sunset in the San Francisco Bay Area an unusual shade of orange-red. The smoke also dimmed the sun enough to make it possible to see the larger sunspots that day without a protective filter. (The smaller ones were obscured by fairly strong heat rippling.)

Click on the image, then click on it again to get a larger version where the sunspots are clearly visible.

Title: Gas, dust and stars around Trifid Nebula
Object/Date: M20+M21 @ 2012-06-23
Tech data: GSO 8" f/4 + Canon 350D (18×210 sec.)
Description: The name of Trifid came by the shape of this emission and reflexion nebula: three bright lobes apart by dark lines of dust. It is one of the biggest nebulaes that there are into the Sagittarius boundaries of Milky Way, in whose heart has been discovered young stars, protoplanetary discs and other objects related with estelar formation.

While I was observing (and shooting) the milky way, a nice Iridium flare appaered.
Canon 6D, samyang 14mm, 30s, f2.8, 6400 iso

After a few search, this is Iridium 13.
