Comet C/2011 L4 (Pan-STARRS) taken in Cluj Napoca, Romania, by Hudin Lucian, on 2013-03-17 17:00 UT, using a Skywatcher ED80 f/7.5 refractor, Canon 350D, NEQ6 via eqmod. 10x30sec exposures were shot then aligned/stacked with deepskystacker. Beside two main tails, another reddish tail is seen, altough pretty faint.

Re: Submission Gallery: 2013 Comets
Comet C/2011 L4 (Pan-STARRS) was barely visible with naked eye. I used an equatorial mount to snap 10 images of 30 seconds length with my old 350D and then I stacked them using DSS's Comet Stack. Beside the main splitted coma, another faint reddish tail can be seen.

Re: Submission Gallery: 2013 Comets
Here is a video of PanSTARRS Comet setting as seen from my home at Ardea (Rome area, Italy): https://vimeo.com/62082971
The video has been realized on 16th March 2013, one of few days when comet has been visible from Italy due to bad wheather conditions.
The video has been realized composing 107 pictures with Virtualdub software: all pictures were 6 second exposures made with a Canon EOS 30D DSLR equipped with a Canon EF 17-85 USM lens.
The atmospheric extintion made the comet disappear before it reached the trees and clouds also played a big role in dimming its brightness.
Thanks a lot
Roberto Volsa

Re: Submission Gallery: 2013 Comets
Comet Pan-STARRS with 3 tails!
From the analysis of 100 averaged imaged, I've found 3 tails: ion (1), sodium? (2) and dust (3). Even if very faint, the ion tail seems to be there, visible only in the BLUE channel. Instead the second tail is completely absent in blue and thus cannot be ion. A hypotesis is the sodium tail. The third tail in the wide dust one. I hope to have the opportunity to get other images in the next days, for confirming the very faint blue tail. And I hope someone will make a spectrum of that secondary tail to understand the composition.
I submit a 3 channel split showing the tails, and also an RGB composition. Tech details: TEC 140 apo refractor, Canon 60D, average of 100 exposures of 4 s each, 800-3200 ISO. Imaged at about 18.30 UT, 15 March 2013

Panstarrs with Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) from Finland. Taken 17th of March 2013, location Uusikaupunki (SW corner of Finland).

I prepped to photograph the Panstarrs from the sea shore, and after I got the comet into visual range the most amazing Aurora I've seen this far south started. This gave a nice background to the comet.
Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF-S18-135STM, all shots around 10 sec shutter in bulb mode, ISO400.

Comet PANSTARRS - A Desert View PAN-orama
I arrived back home from my Utah road-trip today as soon as the sun was setting and rushed out to Gates Pass to photograph Comet Panstarrs. I was shocked at how many people were camped out for this event...I couldn't even park at the top look out! After trying to find a spot to park for 20 minutes I just drove west and parked at the first pullout near Kenny road. I then rushed out to the first interesting cactus I could find and set up both cameras.
Here is a 3-photo horizontal panoramic taken near gates pass in Tucson, Arizona showing a couple objects. You can see the crescent moon at the top, 3 bright stars from Pisces underneath it, and Comet PANSTARRS near the crooked cactus. This is also a frame from a time-lapse.
