Well, the West is going north - it's going up, I mean!

If I'm not very much mistaken, R.R. Tolkien had Gandalf and Frodo sail to a paradise-like land located west of Middle Earth.

Interestingly, I think it says in the Bible that the original earthly paradise was located in the east.

Fortunes are changing for the east and the west!
