Happy Birthday to Owlice!
Happy Birthday Owlice!
stars shine from a distance
owlice shines in SA*’s instance
dancing with words
alluded with wise and beautiful bird
may this day be star shine for you
bright and brilliant as your mind shows through
through life’s trials
and laundry piles
may your heart remain strong
and filled with song
stars shine from a distance
owlice shines in SA*’s instance
dancing with words

may this day be star shine for you
bright and brilliant as your mind shows through
through life’s trials
and laundry piles
may your heart remain strong
and filled with song

Re: Happy Birthday to Owlice!
`How old did you say you were?'
Alice made a short calculation, and said `Seven years and six months.'
`Wrong!' Humpty Dumpty exclaimed triumphantly. `You never said a word like it!'
`I though you meant "How old are you?"' Alice explained.
`If I'd meant that, I'd have said it,' said Humpty Dumpty.
Alice didn't want to begin another argument, so she said nothing.
`Seven years and six months!' Humpty Dumpty repeated thoughtfully. `An uncomfortable sort of age. Now if you'd asked my advice, I'd have said "Leave off at seven" -- but it's too late now.'
`I never ask advice about growing,' Alice said Indignantly.

Re: Happy Birthday to Owlice!
Thanks, MargaritaMc! I spent the day with my son (19-year-old college senior) doing mundane things (eye doctor appointments, a little shopping, eating, driving him from and back to school).
We were in our local Target and found mugs on a clearance shelf. For $1, we each got a mug with our first initial on it; his is grey, which matches the kitchen cabinets, and mine is red and white, which matches everything else in the kitchen.* As there were only a few mugs with initials on them, I think we were practically required to buy these.
We also listened to music in the car -- it's just over an hour from home to his college -- and that's always interesting. He listens widely, to a lot of different music, and likes to share some of his finds with me. And we talked about graduation and what he might do after it, philosophy, languages, pizza, and how playful his beautiful now-old cat has become again.
I really enjoyed his company; it was a great day!
*Yes, I know -- now -- these are Ohio State colors; that was not on purpose, and I apologize to all UMich fans for my color scheme!

That is a really lovely way to spend a birthday, Owlice. Finding delight in the ordinary things is the royal road to a truly happy and contented life.owlice wrote:Thanks, MargaritaMc! Your time with your son sounded, well, precious. (I tend to try to avoid words like that, but it is the only one that fits).
Yes, you had a great day.
