DIY Project

Post by orin stepanek » Fri Jan 18, 2013 4:29 pm

I embarked on a do it yourself project! Hopefully I wont run into too many snafus. About a year ago we decided to take up the carpet in the computer room! Under it was an oak floor. Trouble is there were stains! I decided to go with a laminate floo; and do it myself. So far so good; as I am about 3/4 done>. I have come to the doorway and closet. (Used to be kids bedroom.) So now there will be a lot of cutting and measuring. I'll get it done but will take a little while!

Congratulations on a job well begun and almost done. I did the floor in my Kitchen/Dining room, Living Room, Hall, Laundry Room, and Bathrooms. Took me 60 hours all hand cut and installed without assistance. Lasted for 8 years before my Dishwasher feed line broke and partially flooded our house. Now I have the same floor but it has been professionally reinstalled and paid for by Insurance. Funny, it looks the same though.

Thanks BMAONE23! The toughest part is the undercutting around the doorjambs;>> Just finished that! :D The 2'nd toughest is shaping the cuts for around the doorjambs. I should get finished tomorrow with the quarter round! :D Then I can have a cool one! :b: I'm thinking about doing the living room and the master BR; but I poop out too easily any more; so I'll have to give that some thought. 8-)

I started with my hallway which is only 3' x 20' but this is where the majority of the door jams were Bedrooms, Bathroom & Laundry room and took over 1/3 of the time. The rest was cake in comparison but I was doing all the cutting with a handsaw

I'd like to know where to buy the chair depicted at 1:40; that would really come in handy.

I thought the 'walking' table and the 'following' chair were really neat. Somehow... all that stuff seems to really fit Moonlady. :lol2:

A chair in a suitcase. What'll they think of next :?: I wonder if it unfolds as easy as it folds up :?:

My current DIY is tiling the kitchen floor! There are old tiles that have to be removed first; but I got a good start!

Enjoy your time off! Installing flooring is no easy task as you and BMAONE23 must know. I used to install carpet for a living a number of years ago… very rough on the knees.

Now I am in the process of removing the carpeting from the living room! We decided to put new flooring in there also1 The carpeting served it's purpose! This is going to take a while as there is a lot of heavy stuff in the room!
