The New River flows flows north, seen in this image taken from the Western or Pulaski County side in Virginia on Thanksgiving night 2012, when a 3/4 moon lit the seen and the mountains that the river has cut through over time. It is said the New River is the "second oldest river in the world" after the Nile, which also flows north and that the New River is older than these mountains, that as they rose, it kept right on flowing and cut the gap in them. Polaris would not have been the "Pole Star" then.

Despite NGC 1555 is often imaged object, there are only few images showing wider FOV of this region. Initially I thought that the zebra-like pattern in the MC is due to some processing artefacts, but this image of Thomas V. Davis convinced me that they are real .

NGC 1555 Hind's variable Nebula

Here is an image of NGC 1555 Hind's variable Nebula as well as 4 Herbig-Haro Objects HH355 D, E, F as well as another at the top of the image. I didn't knwo much about these objects until this image, I noticed them but had to do some searching to find out what they were. An analysis involving the partial penumbral eclipse on Aug 6th, 2009 involving the partial entry of the full moon in the penumbra. The first image involves the full moon four minutes prior to first contact whereas the second image involves the full moon at its maximum entry into the penumbra.

The image labelled "Diff-1" is the difference between the two earlier images and where a hint of partial immersion into the penumbra is revealed in the lower third of the lunar disk. A nonlinear adjustment was applied to the "Diff-1" image so as to make the small difference in the lower lunar limb more visible (as per "Diff-2").

All camera exposure settings were purposely the same for the two original images with RAW format purposely used so that the camera on-board software would not tamper in any way with the recording of the images themselves.

Jupiter on November 18th, 05:30ut. Beautiful up-drifts, Festoons and many small ovals throughout the regions. The GRS and Oval Ba has transit
ed across the disc with a dramatic trailing tail of disturbances and the Dark cyclonic oval its walls seems to be making contact with the Oval Ba's walls.
Equipment: LX200ACF 12 in. OTA, CGE mount, Flea3 Ccd, TeleVue 3x barlows, Astronomik RGB filter at 55 sec. per channel.

please find here an HDR image of moon taken the october 19th.
process by registax 5, CS5 and photomatix 4.2 pro with intensive fusion of two images exposed 0.015 and 0.03 sec.
C.14 with 24x36 mm lumenera and red filter W.29.

It spans nearly 40000 light-years across. Nine supernovae have been discovered in NGC 6946 since 1917, which is a sign of an abnormally high star formation rate.

OMG that's amazing!! Your image shows the giant Herbig Haro outflow HH 355, which was discovered only in 1997!!! It's a shame that other imagers don't include Ha exposures.

My latest and greatest Orion Nebula image. This was taken up at Kitt Peak Observatory a couple weeks ago. Total exposure time was around 12 minutes taken with the Canon 5DMKII through a TEC 140mm f/7 APO ED Refractor Telescope. — at Kitt Peak National Observatory.
Huge thank you to Astronomer Blythe Guvenen for allowing me to come up to photograph with him.

I took the image on the left in May when the Full Moon was closest to Earth. The image on the right was taken seven Full Moons later, when it was farthest from our planet.

A Dance in space:
The NGC 7331 Galaxy group and Stephan's quintet appear as in an endless dance in vast space.
Many small galaxies in the background join this dance...

Perth's Bell Tower points (trough Jupiter) to Hyades, Pleiads are on the left ..
Full-Moon (visible bottom part of the halo) was just above the Pleiads, but this time it was not the "subject" of the shot ......
