Milky way and zodiacal light from La Silla, Chile. The bright stars almost in the middle of the image is planet Mars and its stellar opposite Antares (from greek Anti-Ares). On the left is Southern cross and right in the left top corner is Small Magellanic cloud. Great structure of central Milky way if from La Silla visible by naked eyes. Zodiacal light is now well visible just after sunset because of the moonlit, but at a week will be visible in the morning too... Used Canon 450D, stack of 20x30s expositions.

Jupiter on October 6th, 07:35ut, Less then two months from Opposition. Many festons throughout the zones and a very bright (orange) Oval at the NTRZ region. The Moon Ganmede is seen and approaching the Jovian disc.

Since Galileo observed sunspots using a telescope, the sun can not be considered a "perfect" heavenly body in the platonic sense of the term. Galileo was the first person to imagine that the same physical laws govern phenomena here on Earth and in the rest of the cosmos.

However, is it possible to see sunspots as part of a landscape ? Yes (but don't try it with a telescope, as it is VERY dangerous). Sometimes, just after sunrise, the atmosphere attenuates the sunlight and they can be photographed without special equipment and probably even be seen if they are large, as in this image captured the 29/9/2011.

Use the img2 tag rather than img when posting your images, please, if you want people to see the images at their actual size. Clicking on the images will then enlarge them. Thanks.

Milky way, Magellanic clouds and zodiacal light from La Silla, Chile. There is also visible planet Mars and its stellar opposite Antares (from greek Anti-Ares) inside zodiacal light. The bright trail isnt meteor, but Iridium flash. In the Milky way is possible to see brilliant structure of dark nebulae and interstellar dust. Used Canon 450D, stack of 33x30s expositions.

Field of Streams

Stellar streams are found throughout the outer region of the Milky
Way. They are presumed to originate from disrupting dwarf galaxies or
globular clusters. We have discovered a new stellar stream in the
Milky Way using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey 3 all-sky imaging, which
we call the Triangulum Stream. Kinematic studies of this and similar
streams will provide tight constraints on the strength, shape and
lumpiness of the Galactic gravitation potential.

Great capture! Nicely done.
Looking at your exif data must have been very still for those leaves in LH top corner to still be crisp after 60 seconds.
This was June 9th? Almost winter down under, was the moonbow that bright to the naked eye or does the long exposure bring out more details?
