APOD assessment poll #9
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
Its my homepage so everytime i open the internet up it pops I have passed this idea onto many family and friends who enjoy it so much more than the "news" homepages
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
APOD is my browser's startup page. Need I say more?
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
This is a fasinating site. Never miss a day. It should be required viewing/reading for all high school science students and their teachers.

@bbb:
Or is it that the age groups with the greatest participation were those who were in school in the late 60's/early 70's who were most in tune with all the excitement of the heyday of NASA and the Apollo missions?
I was at Boy Scut summer camp when Apollo 11 landed on the moon. EVERYTHING stopped, and we all gathered into the dining hall to watch on an old B&W tV set as Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. Absolute silence until we heard his statement, and then the place exploded in cheering. I doubt that many of us have lost that wonder and enthusiasm.

Love the pictures. I try to never miss one!
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
I am 68 year old lady. APOD is one essential site I visit. My education in astronomy was seriously lacking. APOD, NASA, and PBS science sites are wonderful ways to keep the old neurons firing. A surprise find was "Happy People Dancing on Planet Earth" It is a favorite video.

Thank you for showing us our surroundings and the images of our belonging.
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
I check out this site every day, if at all possible--and although much of it is over my head, I delight in learning something new. Thank you!
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
I look at this site everyday, such striking images put my own troubles in perspective.
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
I am ever intrigued by the vast depths of universe that seem to exist out in a world that I perceive only to be a violent blackness... City life is not fair to the sky, and I miss the rurals.
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
I have had the APOD link on my homepage for some time now as I click on most of my links as a morning routine. APOD is always a good way to start the day!
Looks like the poll is a normal distribution based on age. Just not many of us left towards the bottom.

I look forward to this website, especially on Mondays when I have not seen the weekend photographs.
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
I visit this site every day. It has opened up my eyes and my mind to the awesomeness of the universe and creation. It has put into perspective just how small my "world" is in the scheme of things. It also features many scenes of breath taking beauty, many of which I download for my desk top image to delight me whenever I sit down in front of my computer. Thank you for this site!
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
This is a great site, I visit it daily. I really love the Hubbell images of spiral galaxies.
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
APOD is my home page on both my browsers (I don't use the one I can't uninstall!) and so is the first thing I see when I go online. It helps to remind me just how insignificant I am in the great scheme of things,(assuming that there is a scheme!)
Re: APOD assessment poll #9
Thank you for your continuing presentation of fascinating pictures of space and earth with their detailed explanations. As many others, I usually start my day viewing the new post. I find my sense of balance and belonging in the universe contemplating especially the deep space photos. I frequently send a particularly fascinating one to family in Alaska, Florida, Connecticut, New Mexico and Oregon.

I have looked at every one since I discovered the site back in the 90's (and looked at quite a bit of the archives as well).

Love it! I don't come to this site very often as I have the app on my phone and I get a different wallpaper photo every day.
Keep up the GREAT work!

Same with us - add another vote for the 60-69 age for my smarter half.nickles2u wrote:I'm wondering if the large percentage of viewers in the 50-69 age range is due to the fact the we grew up with the space race and consequently have a greater interest in astronomy than those in other age groups.
