Re: Gallery: Annular Eclipse, 2012 May
As the sun was setting behind the mountains I could feel Heaven and Earth embrace. What a beautiful site to behold! Imaged from Anthem, AZ USA with a Lunt 152mm BF3400 and Flea3 ccd video camera.

We also happened to take a look at what was going on behind us during the eclipse.

This image show the annular eclipse behind a massive 180 foot tall arch in NE Arizona. I had to combine two exposures to get this shot ... one for the eclipse and one for the rest of the image.

Most of this image is a reflection off of the solar filter I was looking through and is a view of the crowds (behind me) that came out to see the eclipse. The tiny image of the partially eclipsed Sun appearing on the camera lens is actually seen through the solar filter.

Setting Eclipse with Green Flash
I was going through additional images I collected, and found this one (just a second different from a previously posted shot) that appears to show the green flash phenomenon on the eclipsed limb of the Sun. If so, I got lucky here, because it was very brief.
I've also updated my website with additional images and a video.

Owl note: Awwwwww!Karl Volk wrote:I drove north about 4.5hrs to image the eclipse near the centerline at about Shasta. Unfortunately, it was cloudy starting at Redding, so I back-tracked quickly to Red Bluff, CA, where I set up on the banks of the Sacramento River in town at Red Bluff City Park. I have to say, it was a lovely spot, and many people were there to view the eclipse. A couple from SF even got engaged with the groom-to-be pulling out the ring and placing it inside the Ring-of-Fire projection at their setup.
