Aloha...this is my first post...I have clicked on APOD for many years and just found this forum...looking forward to reading your posts. I love Astronomy...ever since I was a kid, sleeping under the stars...living in the high Sierras I was at home looking up. I now live in Hawaii and have a full view of Mauna Kea from my chair. I work for one of the Telescopes so have so much excitement and fun with the discoveries and of course the wonderful people I work with...and of course this is one of my favs...........

Of all the awe-inspiring images posted on APOD, the one that really fascinates me is the images taken by the Cassini spacecraft during the mid-2010 Equinox where the details of the moons and rings of Saturn are shown, these images are so clear and detailed, they dont need any explanations too

I often wish all the images collected by the HST, probes like Voyager 1/2, Pioneer and rovers sent on Mars could all be accumulated and a 3-D movie was made for people , also something like a travel through various Nebulas, the Pillars of Creation.. WOW ! the list is endless

This photo just shows how small we really are. Seeing all those stars without a telescope is amazing. All those little lights in the sky are never ending and each one can be millions of light years away. To grasp the magnitude of that concept seems unreal, but when you can see all of these stars by just walking outside during the night it reminds me of how real the universe actually is.

When i first clicked on the blue here i ended up between the ARP LOOP and the Running man Nebula and had to scroll down about 6 pictures, so i tried it again and ended up on the Trifid Nebula that cflores posted on 2/12/2011 8:46pm, which i assume is where i should have ended up the first time.

Just wanted to say that I would really like to see a random page button on here so you can check out all kinds of amazing pictures. Just, when you click it it would take you to a post they've had in the past. As to my favorite, I have to say the canary islands video a few days ago blew me away. Just wow! My mouth literally dropped open a few times Keep it up nasa!

Every day, is usually an extraordinary adventure in the links that my 'daily fav', inspires. But today's ISS pic of Atlantis re-entry, is my favorite shuttle shot of the whole project. Also, my fav ISS/pov, all time. What a way to go. The end of a wondrous era that thanks to NASA, et al, has produced such pics to inspire us to look up. As a homebound senior, 1st time mac/internet user (when I can afford it), I'm very thankful.

The HUDF has to be one of my favorites just because it is a tiny section space and it holds so many galaxies. This picture is worth more than a thousand words, and brings about so many unanswered questions. It's simply amazing. I am awestruck everytime I look at it.

Look closely and you can see Jerry Garcia floating ephemerally there about 3/4 of the way up an just to the right of center.

That is quite a deep image. I too want to try a similar project.
