A galactic storyteller
http://stefanoderosa.com/
Copyright: Stefano De Rosa

http://ofpink.files.wordpress.com/2011/ ... teller.jpg
The image, taken on August 24, 2011, shows a group of people vacationing on a beach of Isola d’Elba (Italy) and listening to the galactic legends from a storyteller (holding a guitar in the center of the scene) under a starry summer sky. The storyteller is inspired by the lights from two boats that resemble two bright stars just at the end of the milky way band and from the legends of the island visible next to the boat on the left, the “Montecristo Island” , made famous by “The Count of Monte Cristo” novel of Alexandre Dumas.
Best regards
Stefano

Re: Recent Submissions
You can see a powerful meteor sept. 1st. 2011 (the night of Alpha Aurigids) on a very clear night in Denmark, with great sight to the "the atmosphere" of the galaxy.
You can see a terrible light pollution from the nearby town of Silkeborg, but also objects like Plejades, Jupiter and California Nebula near the light dome.
Higher you can see objects like Andromeda, Northamerica Nebula and others.
It is a mosaic photo, 4 shots. Canon (astromodified) 5D II, EF24mm TS-e lens and a tripod.
Did not use any filters, motormount or other astro-gear. Exposure 30 sec. f/3,5 iso 2500.

Re: Recent Submissions
Well, it's very nice to see you here, Jesper Grønne! I've seen some of your images posted at DMI, Denmark's Meteorological Institute. And this picture of yours is a very nice one! I like wide-angle images. The Andromeda galaxy looks splendid in your image - it just jumps out at you! So does the Double Cluster in Perseus. Emission nebulae IC 1805 and IC 1848 to the left of the Double cluster look good too, as does the North America Nebula. The California Nebula provides a wisp of pink in the twilight, and you have even managed to capture the Pleiades even though they are drowning in yellow light! That broken streak is a meteor, you say? Interesting.
Do come back here with more images!

Re: Recent Submissions
Hi Ann and Owlice.
Thanks for your kind comments, I appreciate them very much
It inspires to make more photos, and maybe one day, one could be selected for APOD, that would be great.
