John A Davis, that's a lovely Lacerta mosaic. The blue star at five o'clock is 10 Lacertae, a rare naked eye O-type star.

What I like about this is the ability to show your kids this onscreen, the go outside and see it visually for real.
Come August 25-28 we are on summer vacation in dark skies, and this will be on my iPad2!

Great pictures, all!

I particularly like the serenity of the Full Moon at Lake Balaton image, which reminds me (in a very good way!) of the most magical scenes of the Disney movie, Lady and the Tramp. I'm also fascinated by the dark red-rimmed clouds over the Pacific and the tiny, puny green flash at the horizon - as if the illumination of the clouds and the green flash at the horizon came from two completely different light sources. And I wouldn't be me if I didn't like Salvatore Grasso's blue-enhanced Lagoon Nebula, which brings out the reflection nebulae inside.

Once again, because Jerry Lodriguss's Summer Triangle image is reproduced once more, I must say that it is just incredibly lovely.
