Last possible transit of a space shuttle!

it has been difficult to find a clear sky over Northern Europe for this last possible transit of Atlantis, taken at 08:27:48UT, just 21 minutes before deorbit burn. I finally went to the very North-Western Germany, close to Emden city. Fortunately the transit occurred between clouds, its duration was 0.9 second and Atlantis, from a distance of 566 km (350 miles), appears on four images. This might even be the last picture of a space shuttle in orbit!

July 21, 2011: Space shuttle Atlantis landed at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, wrapping up the final mission of NASA's space shuttle program.

At 08:27:48 UT, just 21 minutes before the deorbit burn, astrophotographer Thierry Legault captured what might be the last picture of Atlantis in space--and it was a solar transit.
