Comet hitting earth

I read a lot lately that there is a big chanse of comet/metheor hitting the earth, big enough to destroy human kind. Does we really have anything to prevent it hitting the earth? Or all we can do is just wait until it happens...

I don't know where you read this, but of the known comets and asteroids, there is very little chance of any of them hitting the Earth. At the present time there is very little we could do to prevent a collision.

There is a 100% chance of a large comet hitting the Earth. But the chance of it happening in any given long period, like a few million years, is very small.

If a comet or asteroid in a short period orbit (say, a century or less) was perturbed and entered an Earth crossing orbit, it is likely we have the technology to deflect it. But a long period comet is something we would be unaware of until just months or even days before impact. There is nothing we could do about such an object.

There is a 100% chance of a large comet hitting the Earth. But the chance of it happening in any given long period, like a few million years, is very small.

It should be noted, however, that the chance of a large comet hitting
the Earth goes up significantly when there is a black Chief Executive
