With all this extra planet discovery, I will be excited when we discover extra terrestial comets!

Hmmm, you mean there are terrestrial comets?

We are a long ways from having the necessary technology to observe individual comets around other stars. But we have already observed what appear to be analogs of the Oort cloud around other stars, so in a sense we probably have already seen extrasolar comets.
