Amateur Radio Astronomy

Hey folks,

I was curious if anyone here has ever dabbled with amateur radio astronomy (Chris, I am looking in your direction). I have been considering it lately. I think it would be interesting to try and listen to solar activity or even perhaps radio transmissions from Jupiter.

I have found a few sources of information on the subject; even NASA has a project aimed at science teachers for building a basic radio telescope. It's called the JOVE project. Looks like the kit, if your are willing to do the work, runs for less than 200 dollars.

I haven't done much- looked at meteor reflections, but nothing else. I think about doing something from time to time, but something always seems to come up instead. But quite a few people are doing pretty fun stuff with very modest equipment.
