Forum Statistic - What's the odds?
Is the number of members and topics correlated? I doubt it. Now that I submitted this topic, a new member has to join.

Re: Forum Statistic - What's the odds?
Both Palindromic and sequential numbers occur often in my life. For example the sequence 1234 is always turning up.
AndI've had several phone numbers ending in 5665.

Re: Forum Statistic - What's the odds?
the number which was repeating in my life over and over in the past 3 years is 73.
you may not believe me but it came in front of my eyes for few thousands times!
i just don't know why 73?!

Amir, it might be the "new car" syndrome. When you get a new car, you suddenly notice how many other people drive that car. (Or the "half a cow" syndrome; once you start looking for half a cow, you see them when others don't notice them at all. There used to be a website for this, even, -- now taken over by an Aussie rock group -- where pictures of half-a-cow sightings were published.)
Once you became sensitive to 73, you are more likely to notice it when it does show up in front of you. I advise you to look for 37!

(until this post, anyway <g>) I think that quite an elegant prime.

Re: Forum Statistic - What's the odds?
yes, i know what you are talking about; but no, this is truly happening to me. even others have noticed that!
i may look a bit (!) insane, but i've even calculated the percentage of the times that 73 appears to me! and it is the highest among two-digit numbers (10-99)!

Re: Forum Statistic - What's the odds?
this an example:
there are also other interesting numbers. look at 33, 22 & 11 standing right after each other, for instance.

If you can believe what she says,
Sylvia Browne has written that these number combinations are likely to be sign posts that we are predestined to encounter as a means of telling us that our life is progressing in the right direction. True or not, it is an interesting concept

Prime, a. [F., fr. L. primus first, a superl. corresponding to the compar. prior former.]
1. First in order of time; primeval; primitive.
5. Lecherous; lustful; lewd.
_____ Othello, The Moor of Venice Act 3, Scene 3
IAGO: It is impossible you should see this,
__ Were they as prime as goats, as hot as monkeys,
__ As salt as wolves in pride, and fools as gross
__ As ignorance made drunk. But yet, I say,
__ If imputation and strong circumstances,
__ Which lead directly to the door of truth,
__ Will give you satisfaction, you may have't.

Why all the hating?

Or pointed head, maybe.
Total number of members is currently 5407, which is (need I say it?) a prime number.

Fascination with irrelevantly coincidental numbers is exactly how numerology got started. (The number of characters in that sentence is prime, as is the quantity of the letter 'e'.)
