I got 4 cantaloupes this past season; but they never got any bigger than baseballs. Two of them were edible though. The other two rotted before they ripened. My watermelons were a complete disaster; one only; the size of a tennis ball. All light pink inside when harvest time came. The weather got too cold to get it to develop. I used a liquid fertilizer. My tomatoes plants were about 8foot from ground to top. I'm going to keep them trimmed next year as they get too top heavy.

I let the cucumbers twine up into my chain link fence. That works really neat as the fruit hangs from the fence for easy picking.

Keeps me in cucumbers 'til the end of harvest. Four plants is all I need. About 4 or 5 cucumbers per week.

Ahhh! Now that Spring is around the corner; I raked out the leaves from the flower beds. The daffodils are ready to join the crocus in bloom.

In a few weeks I will be tilling the soil to make ready for my garden.

I almost bought a Concord grape plant at Walmart. It was only $5; but I better talk to my other half first. Don't want to spring any surprises on her; especially since today is her birthday. The surprises should be something for her.

We pulled the bags of leaf mulch off the garlic last weekend. They'd already begun to sprout a little out of the soil. We plant, in late November, about 65 bulbs along the base of a stone wall. They will keep us in garlic most of the year. Everything else comes from the store, since our lot is hilly and stony and forested. I tried a couple of tomato plants in half-barrels a few years ago and could hold the entire harvest in both hands. Green thumbed I'm not.

I was digging out some half buried; huge cement stepping stones; from my garden Saturday. My spade hit a chunk nearby that turned out to be a clump of cement. Upon examining it; there is what looks like a bone half covered with the cement. If it is bone; it must be petrified as it is as hard as the cement. I'd like to take it to be examined; but don't know who may be interested.

As you can see the bone is embedded in cement! It is also very hard; like it turned into rock itself. I see I will have to practice with these pictures.

The picture doesn't do it justice. The white part when you turn it looks like it could be part of a jaw bone. It just doesn't look like white clay or other material. The dark grey on the bottom is concrete. I don't think it is calcified material like you might find in a cavern.

Orin i just clicked on the blank spot and it says 'the attachment dosen't exist anymore'. Maybe you'll have to do it over??

It's like I said; The picture is there as long as I'm logged on. I don't know how to fix it.

Orin, you resized and then saved the picture to your library as a JPEG picture, and then you went to the forum and clicked attachment and then uploaded it??

I didn't have to resize; and I followed Owlice's instruction page. Rob tweaked the photo but I uploaded it. Evidently; I have to be logged on for the picture to have a reference point.

If you look while I'm loggged on you can see the picture. Orin

When I check Orin's post in which he managed to upload the now invisible picture, I see the [img2] tag and no picture. When I look at Beyond's post of the er, um, scarecrow, I see the [attachment] tag and the picture. Does that observation help in any way? [Edit: this post too uses the img2 tag, and it works -- I think.]

It's almost spoiling your fun, but here (from the email I sent back to Orin) is the image. Let's see if I can post it.
Click the "Upload attachment" tab.
Click the "Browse..." button and select the file.
Click the "Add the file" button.
Type a file comment.
Click the "Place inline" button. (What a lot of clicking to do!)
