Neufer: Now a year older... (and still star stuff)
The Owl and the Neufer went to walk
In For a beautiful sea green coat talk,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the Rosette above,
And sang to a small white star,
'O birthday Neufer! O Neufer my dear dove,
What a birthday Neufer you are,
You are,
You are!
What a birthday Neufer you are!'
Neufer said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sour you sing!
O let us go biking! too long we've been hiking:
But what shall we do for some bling?'
They hiked away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bard-tree grows
And there in a wood a Stratfordian stood
With some bling at the end of his toes,
His toes,
His toes,
With some bling at the end of his toes.
'Dear sir, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your bling?' Said the Stratford, 'I will.'
So they took it away, and went biking next day
With the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mints, and mousies with splints,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And wing in paw, on the edge of the law,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

The Moon Loves YouOver the past few years, I’ve had some fun looking for heart-shaped astronomical objects for Valentine’s Day. I found some good new ones this year, so I figured, why not put them all together in a gallery? So here’s your annual dose of cosmic cardioids! Click a thumbnail to get a bigger picture and more info, click the big pictures to go to my original blog posts about the pictures, and scroll through the gallery using the left and right arrows.

Today is Art's Birthday!!
Happy birthday, Art!
'Tis the song of the Neufer: I heard that he swears
"You have baked me too long! I must lemon my hairs."
As a cat with her hen's teeth, so he with his hands
Coats his beard and his eyebrows, and turns as he stands.
When the skies are all dark, he is pleased as can be,
And will stare to the heavens to see what's to see;
And when the sun rises and Owls aren't around,
His song makes a strong and tremendously loud sound.
He spied in the garden as he walked passed the house
That the Owl and the Panther were sharing a mouse:
The Panther took tummy, and eyeballs, and feet,
While the Owl had the ears as her share of the treat.
When the mouse was all finished, the Owl had a go,
At the Wii bowling game, but then came to great woe
When the Panther smacked lips, and with a soft growl,
He concluded the banquet by ...

Re: Neufer: Now a year older... (and still star stuff)
In the Asterisk world it was Neufer 'twas told
"Take sceptre in hand, have a hat ward off cold!
Let the Starship creatures, however they coo,
Come dine with bystander, the Owlice, and you!"
Please fill up the glasses as quick as you can,
And sprinkle the table with mousies and bran;
Put cats in the coffee, and stars in the heaven--
And welcome dear Neufer, who is sixty and seven!
"O thread-building creatures," said Neufer, "draw swords!
'Tis a lark to engage here, upon forum boards,
'Tis a madness indeed to have white wine and beer
For dunking fair Gecko by holding her ear!"
I've filled up the stanzas with nonsense and verse,
Which started off bad and then went to worse:
Mixed -phor with the meta-, and -day with a birth-
To wish happiest day to the Neufer on earth!
Once again, my deepest apologies to Dodgson.

Is it really that time again? Happy Birthday, ya old codger.
Here is a delicious-looking cup of hot cocoa because it is sorely needed this year. There might be some pisco sour off to the side somewhere.

68 = [17]th earl of o[x 4]d

68 is the largest known number to be the sum of two primes in exactly two different ways: 68 = 7 + 61 = 31 + 37.
All higher even numbers that have been checked are the sum of three or more pairs of primes; the conjecture that 68 is the largest number with this property is closely related to the Goldbach conjecture and like it remains unproven.
In the restaurant industry, 68 may be used as a code meaning "put back on the menu",
being the opposite of 86 which means "remove from the menu".>>
