Re: Weather!
Well, i finally got all the snow removed from storm Dennis((the menace)) and now the weather guys are telling us that It's going to snow a little tuesday, before the next storm comes wednesday, that looks very much like the one we just had. Of course It's a little early yet, but they say it looks like it has the character of a BIG one. Snowblower, don't fail me now

Re: Weather!
High today 75o! Low tonight 38o. Winter storm watch in effect for Tulsa tonight (90 miles NE). High tomorrow 43o (can't you keep that cold up there, orin?). Winter moves back in Monday night. Rain followed by freezing rain, sleet, and snow as temperatures drop. Snow Tuesday.

Here's a few pictures to show what the snow levels around here look like. I must point out that the bottom of the mail box is 42 inches above the road and i can't see it from the house anymore.

bystander; you're supposed to share that nice warn weather. It's in the 20's here and it'll be colder and snowing the next two days if the weather predictions are correct.bystander wrote:High today 75o! Low tonight 38o. Re: Weather!
Major storm predicted by NWS, starting tonight! Off to stock up.
NWS Point Forecast: Oklahoma City OK wrote:Today: Cloudy. Highs in the lower 40s. North winds around 10 mph.
- Weather Synopsis...Weather conditions will deteriorate rapidly tonight as winds increase, temperatures drop, and precipitation breaks out across the area. A winter mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow will change to all snow in most areas by daybreak. Blizzard conditions are very possible in some areas by Tuesday morning as the snow becomes heavy at times, and strong north winds create severe blowing and drifting. All preparations for this storm should be completed by this evening. Any unnecessary travel is discouraged late tonight and Tuesday, by which time roads may be impassable in many areas.
Tonight: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight, then snow and sleet between midnight and 3am, then snow after 3am. The snow could be heavy at times. Widespread blowing snow after 3am. Low around 16. Windy, with a north wind 11 to 14 mph increasing to between 23 and 26 mph. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Tuesday: Snow and widespread blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature falling to around 11 by 4pm. Wind chill values as low as -11. Windy, with a north northwest wind between 29 and 32 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Re: Weather!
Wow, could you ship some of your balmy weather up here to the mountains? Our high tomorrow is supposed to be -2°F, and our low -26°F, and that's before any possible wind chill. I don't think we've had cold like that settle over us for a few years.bystander wrote:Major storm predicted by NWS, starting tonight! Off to stock up. :(

Re: Weather!
Yeah, well we okies are WIMPs. Sub-freezing temperatures and sub-zero wind chills and local news goes into panic mode. We get 24 hour weather reports complete with weather persons telling us to stay indoors or how to dress if we have to be outside (don't ever accuse us of having common sense). Add a threat of ice and snow, and the governor shuts down the state.

Oklahoma State, Oklahoma County, and Oklahoma City offices are closed tomorrow, and it hasn't even started yet.

Re: Weather!
Looks like we peaked out today at -8°F; that was with the Sun out all day. Heading for perhaps -25°F tonight; if we hit that I think it will be a record low since I started recording the temperatures here about 10 years ago. I think today was also a record low high.
A couple days ago we were riding up into the back country with nothing but cotton shirts.
