Deja vu! Starting to remind me of last winter. 12 inches already and still coming down. It is supposed to snow today and tomorrow yet. At least there is no wind yet.

We're supposed to have freezing rain today and sub-zero wind chill tonight. I think I would rather have your snow.

I don't blame you on the freezing rain bit! That can make driving a bit touchy. It is supposed to get to 10 below 0 F out here according to the weather man. That usually comes after it quits snowing. I really don't look forward to that. After the plows come by I'll have to snow blow my truck clear. I don't look forward to that either. I have to park the truck in the street and the plow always plugs it in.

Orin, is it just me, or is your Avatar starlight Brighter??
Anyway, we new-englanders are going to be getting a non-blizzard now, because the winds are supposed to be about 20-30 MPH slower than Blizzard winds. However, we will still be getting from 1-2+ feet of snow. YEA! I get to break in my new snowblower

Will soon be getting warmer here in Colorado at least.

Well, we got us a real Gullywhumper of a snowstorm going on here in Connecticut!! The weather guy is having kaniptions!! He wasn't around for the Blizzard of 78 where the average snowfall was (3)-feet and the state shut down. So far, the predicted total is up to (3)-feet. Heck-of-a-way to break in a new snowblower :!: :!: Winter: Bah-Humbug!!!!

Looks like the perfect opportunity to use a new snowblower to me!

First, there was nothing, then BAM! Snow. Fast and furious; big flakes, though, which usually means we won't get much. As we didn't -- an inch or two, depending on the locale. Some areas had freezing drizzle (frizzle) or sleet, though, before the snow, and even for those who didn't, there was enough snow, falling very quickly, to make the roads slick. Of course three moments after I left work is when the snow started coming down. Schools in my district are opening late.

Streets are mostly cleared (even mine, but I think a neighbor must have done it). The sky had a patch of pre-dawn blue today when I left the house; Venus was high and shining brightly. I drove through the park -- so lovely, the snow clinging to the trees and rocks, the creek mostly frozen over -- and turned onto Virginia Avenue. As one drives down this street, one is heading east and the Washington Monument is directly before you, appearing as though it rises from the street itself. Today, a sun pillar appeared next to the Monument, and was as tall as the Monument. I pulled over and watched for a while, and saw the sun rise just a handsbreadth away from the base of the obelisk. Oh, how I wished I'd had a camera with me!

I don't envy you on the amount of snow! We got lucky; (I guess!) it stopped snowing after 12" of heavy stuff. It was all that my snow blower could handle. Then the Snow plow came by and I had to reopen the drive and dig out my truck. I hope we don't get another one like that for a while. It is cold though. I just checked the weather channel for the current temperature and they are reporting negative 6degrees F for here. That's better than the negative11 F that was forecast.

So much for the myth that owls have good eye sight :!: There's no such thing as "perfect". IF there were a perfect time to use a snowblower, it would most likely be between June 1st and August 30th.

I've had it pretty good in the N/E corner of CT. We've basicly had two blizzards in a row. Some western parts of the state are just finishing their second (3)-foot snowstorm, while I've got just over a foot here from this one and about (5)-inches from the last blizzard, for a total of about a foot and a half, as compared to the western parts that have gotten (6)-feet. It used to be the other way around!, but life is getting better in the N/E of CT. :D

WINTER! What a strange thing it is. It's the time of year when people shovel water and pile it up and press it into something resembling a round orb and throw them at each other and have FUN doing it!! I think the Moody Blues had WINTER in mind when they sang "Isn't Life Strange"?

No snow fights but we did have us a white Christmas down south… last one was 1882! THEN… we got us a southern winter storm this past week. Some winters we don’t get any frozen precipitation.

beyond, yikes!! Too cold!!!

We have the dreaded "wintry mix" around the DC area. Some have snow, others sleet, still others freezing rain. Some will see all of these before the precipitation heads out. The morning commute will be an ugly one, and wouldn't you know... my work laptop is at work, so I cannot telecommute. :(

Having my coffee at home this morn; a thin glaze of ice covers street, driveway, and patio.

Already starting to melt, though, so not too bad.

Last night the temperature dipped down to -17°C (whatever that is in United States customary units). Today it's going up to +6°C, a swing of 23C° in less than 16 hours accompanied, of course, by a wide swing in atmospheric pressure. My sinuses do not appreciate this at all.

Yesterday it was around 45 F; Today it is 10 F it is supposed to snow today; but so far nothing. I'm hoping for no snow. It is supposed to dip into the minuses this week. :( Again I hope that the weatherman misses by about 20 F! The promise for February is for a milder than usual month! That sounds promising! :)

18oF, a mix of snow, sleet, and light freezing rain and freezing drizzle, and wind chill well below zero.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood. :(

It is snowing and blowing; :( at least the grass doesn't need mowing. I'd rather mow the grass than blow the snow. My blower doesn't like to start when it gets below 20 F degrees. I have to bring it on the landing to thaw out before It'll start. Oh well; Spring is only 2 months away.

Orin, how cold is it there?

Our high was in the 20s today; I know other places are much colder, but it was definitely cold enough for me today! I feel like hibernating.
