I remember when I was a kid; next to our garden was an open acreage that the neighbor planted with wheat. At harvest time he would cut it with a horse drawn cycle and gather it with a horse drawn rake. I don't remember how the seeds were harvested after raking.

I remember growing up in a rented farmhouse right around a half century ago.
I remember a "hand-pump" being put in so my parents didn't have to go out back and drop a bucket down the well to get water.
I remember electricity being put in and after that indoor plumbing. No more trips to the outhouse in winter or bad weather :!:
I remember just past the outhouse there were four Bartlett Pear trees. When the pears were ripe we almost had to fight off the bees to pick some.
I remember that they were a nice yellow when ripe and as soon as they were bit into, a lot of pear juice went running down your chin :!:
It was a delightfully sticky mess!!
Alas!! the pear trees are long gone. I guess they spoiled some peoples view of the woods.
I also remember that my father grew rabbits in the dirt basement, until he realized it wasn't worth the effort for about 30 rabbits.
A bottle of coke had just risen to a dime. But if i remember correctly, you'd get 2-cents back for the empty bottle. Of course this was "after" they removed the cocain from their recipe :!: :!:
Lucky Strike cigarettes were 25-cents a pack. The empty packs with the big red circle on them made good targets for my Daisey pump BB gun.

Boy, I can see where this discussion is going, so lets just get to it.

I remember when Grog picked up a rock, stared at it for a day, and then hit a pig over the head with it. That was the same day that Blart found the burning branch under a tree struck by the Great Sky God. After that, we ate so much better!

How can you remember all that? I certainly don't remember you being there. Is this what they call genetic memory?

I remember Roy Orbison

In Remembrance of The Legendary Roy Orbison
Twenty-two years ago, December 6, 1988, rock and roll legend Roy Orbison passed away from a heart attack outside of Nashville. Orbison was then at the height of his career with two albums in Billboard’s Top 5, Mystery Girl and The Travelling Wilburys. He left behind one of history’s greatest musical legacies.

The most fun was watching the airplane. 8-)

Did you guys realize that Sky King was actually filmed on his own ranch? He wanted everything to be real, not like the fakeyness of Hollywood.

Why, I can remember seeing Princess (not Queen) Elizabeth in Black & White. And we didn't even have a TV! Life was Black & White back then. Really!!

How about Going to Thrifty Drugstore and having a 10 cent double scoop ice cream cone while testing the Vaccuum Tubes from the Console TV to find the bad one(s). Or the first truely "Portable TV" that was stamped "Solid State" because it had transistors rather than Vaccuum Tubes.

I remember when one could buy something and get it home and it would work RIGHT!
Now-a-days it almost seems like a miracle IF that happens.

It happens all the time, if you don't buy your stuff from Walmart. Good stuff still exists, but if you base what you buy only on price, you aren't going to get it very often.

My Dad had an old '29 Buick. It had a rag top that had to be waterproofed with a tar like substance and wheels with wood spokes. The rims were double; and had to be split apart when repairing a tire. When we were kids we used the old fenders as slides. Today's cars are way more efficient; even though more efficient cars are still needed. I think I'll keep my car for obvious reasons; although I wish I had my Dad's old antique.

When I was a kid; there wasn't any natural gas. We had a cook stove in the kitchen; and a heating stove in the living room. There were goose down covers on the beds and the bedrooms were as cold as can be. I remember spending a lot of time behind the heating stove in the living room to keep warm. We had to go outside and pump water in a pail for drinking as we didn't have city water. Later dad got an electric pressure pump in a well under the house and we then had running water. :)

No! I know of no dinosaurs around then! There was no gas line where we lived. None that I know of. Anyway we didn't have any. I have gas once in a while. :D There wasn't any sewer line either. I remember when the sewer line came by and we hooked on.
