Alternatives to vulgarisms?

Hmmm. Now I want to count how many states I've never been to....

I've been through Oklahoma. When my wife and I were married we cut across the panhandle of Oklahoma and Texas on a scenic trip toward Albuquerque. We stopped for gas and had to use the restrooms. All they had was an old outhouse that the owner of the gas station had speakers in under the "seat" and he had the mike in the station. He liked playing tricks on people using the facility. He would ask customers to use the other seat because he was working under the one they were on. I asked him not to do that while my wife was in there. I didn't want her to get scared. That was over 47 years ago. As I look back on it I guess it was kind of funny in an offbeat kind of way.
We have been in a lot of Western states and the states North and South of Nebraska. Wisconsin and Illinois are the furthest East I've been. Although I did fly over the gulf on a flight to Mexico City when I was with BD. I do have an Uncle Gabriel; retired from the Air Force; that lives in Virginia close to the Capital. I don't know of any relatives that may live further East than that.

Hey!!! I'll bet geckzilla knows some cities in Oklahoma.
Some people have heard of Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Even Norman and Stillwater get some exposure on ESPN.

That I do! Oklahoma has some really fascinating town names. In fact someone like Neufer would instantly catch on to the silly jokes you can make with towns like Nowata and Lotawata. Besides the obvious ones I'm sure there's more to be made with the aid of a map. Oh yeah, geographical humor. I went there. And yeah, my home town, Okmulgee? Most people I know still can't pronounce it. They say olkmulgee, or oklamulgee. Pretty silly. There's no extra L in there!

I imagine every state has some fascinating names. A lot of them are named from our Native Americans. I think they are great because they are unique. To me anyway,

Yeah, but Oklahoma has a lot more than most other states. I mean, up here in New York all we have are these standard Yankee names... I mean, they're nice names, but they certainly don't confound outsiders about their pronunciation or meaning very often.

Ahaha, who knows? I didn't even see that until you pointed it out. Maybe it's some kind of fish hatchery or some crazy redneck's idea of an ATV track.
