... and you are welcome to post images you think are cool, too!

I came across this lenticular cloud image a while back.

Isn't that a great image? I wish I'd been there to see it myself!!

What a very annoying site that is -- the cloud appreciation society, that is. If you Google it and get there, you'll find that they still won't show you individual images; you have to start their slide-show app instead. And then you'll discover that clicking an image is the only way to progress the slides -- backwards, no matter where you click the slide. But I did finally see the doughnut, though why Dorset should be blamed for it, I'm not sure. ;-)

You can select by type here: http://www.cloudappreciationsociety.org ... &pagenum=1

This page has a link, right under the large image, for other images of the Dorset doughnut: http://www.cloudappreciationsociety.org ... image=5107

The formation was photographed by several cloudspotters, over Dorset, U.K.

Dorset likely wants the credit for it!

This is cool, too; I suppose this is a fallstreak (or punch hole) cloud.

Thanks, Cesar! I recognize the second as mammatus clouds; is the first cumulonimbus?

Edited to fix typo

Hi Owlice:
Yes, first is a Cumulonimbus.
I took two photographs the same day, only a few minutes between them.
All this just two weeks before Hurricane Alex came to town.

Owlice, they are called mammatus clouds, literally "breast clouds"!

I, too, wish I had seen many of the clouds posted here, particularly that red-rimmed UFO-look-a-like lenticular cloud!

Ann, yes, I know; just a typo on my part. Shouldn't track down car parts by phone and post at the same time!
