Thanks.
I tried your way of searching: using calendar & looking for colors/patterns that match with the crop

let me ask something: does the crop have to contain the part that image it about?
for instance what if i had cropped some irrelevant parts of the car in the first image??

how did you find the 2nd one neufer?

As long as it's in the image, I think it's fair game.
how did you find the 2nd one neufer?
I found the second one quickly (but not before Neufer's post) using "amateur astronomer", and the first one with "meteorite".

Folks have gone both ways.

I don't think there are any real rules other than don't make it too difficult or too easy.

I got that one mainly from memory. Remembered the painting and its gaudy frame, and guessed this might be part of it. Searched on "painting" to get the exact APOD.

yes, it's also a unique event here. even if they decide to have a marathon each two month, same number of observers will take part. (i doubt it if it was each month!!) my friends have brilliant memories from this marathon.
some years ago when everyone was quite sleepy in the morning, they left one of the observers in the palace when going back!

yes, owlice. now that i think... it was kinda hard!

bah... that's not fair. NOW I DECLARE A NEW RULE: MEMORIES NOT ALLOWED_______! ;) (don't take it seriously though!)
OK, go for #29.
