I searched APOD with the word Galaxy and clicked on the first one that came up then used a keen eye. I took a couple of markers from your cropped photo like the distant galaxy with quite a bright star underneath it (middle top) and the blue hazy galaxy (middle right) and just kept an eye out for them.

I can't crop stuff at work, so I'm stuffed. I'm just glad I won and want my name added to the list and preserved for future generations.

Amir, I mainly look for colors/patterns. I thought it would be something Earthbound because of the lighting, but I first looked at the APOD calendar link and randomly picked a month or two. From that, I got the idea to search for volcano, and not finding any obvious matches, searched for rocket. The color -- that intense, bright light yellow surrounding white -- made it easy to pick out from those pictures.
It's quite a pretty crop.

and there is no Next button to see other 300 items. why?
