It's a pretty cheap setup, not more than a few hundred dollars. It's a little bit in need of updating, but here are the details.

Could someone please explain what the small, oddly-shaped and oddly-colored (kinda like a purple Mexican sombrero) structure in the upper right-hand corner of the Nov 19/09 APOD might be? Thanks.
