Re: APOD: Mercury's Sodium Tail (2022 May 03)
An emailer has pointed out that the sodium liberated from Mercury is actually in the form of atoms, not molecules. The text on the main NASA APOD page has therefore been updated to indicate this. I apologize for the oversight.

Re: APOD: A Year of Sunrises (2022 Jan 05)
An emailer points out The sun most certainly does not rise at its southernmost point (N hemisphere) on the solstice. That happens around January 5, +/-. (today!) This is correct insofar as the Sun's southernmost point occurs during the day of the December solstice -- which does not necessarily coinc...

Opening for APOD-supporting Graduate Student
An opening for a new Ph D.-seeking graduate student in astrophysics is expected in Fall 2022 at Michigan Technological University. This is an unusual position as the student is expected to have a significant interest in developing skills both in research astrophysics, as relevant to my research inte...

In response to a valid criticism of the APOD explanation on APOD's Facebook mirror by Paul Schlyter, the text of the main NASA APOD has changed the wording "just minutes" to "hours". In this context, sunrise times include twilights like, for example, astronomical twilight.
