Length of the day

I uploaded to a temporary directory an educational module that was prepared by Vic. The module can be evaluated at:

Re: Mercury?

This is certainly not the place where Mercury appears in the sky. The label is very close to the place where Neptun should appear (had it been able to be captured by concam), so I will have to check if there is some typo here.

Re: Iridium flare and laser?

The pattern is similar to previous Iridium flares captured by NSL, but this one is much much larger than any Iridium flare ever seen. Theoretically, it might be a glint from an airplane. What I mean is that the airplane has some flashing light that happened to flash for few seconds exactly at the ce...

Re: RE: Moon

The arguement of which side of the moon to have lit is all well and good, but a more practical problem is that it is too small. Watching the movie it is fairly obvious it is the moon, but as a static image it could just as easily be a cloud. I knew of the project to include the moon on the map and ...

Re: Yes

Well, the world map is indeed highly non-intuitive, but it makes one think about it, eventually realizing that NSL "looks" from earth up. I'm not quite sure about this, but the reversed map might make visitors try to figure out what NSL actually is. Perhaps my argument is rather weak, but ...

Yes

I think the world map should be reversed. It looks strange at first, but I think it makes people understand faster what NSL does. Besides, it's a nice gimmick.

Re: Moon

First, if you select "quote" (top right) then you can reply with the old subject, like what I jave just done here. About the moon, whay I mean is this: http://nightskylive.net/temp/worldmap.gif Maybe the world map is confusing here, but when you look at the moon from earth, I think that th...

When god gave out sense of humor, I probably took the wrong line (which I think it was the line for toothache :? ). Anyway, I think that the moon pictures of the naval observatory are right, and we are wrong. When you play a 24 hour movie (http://nightskylive.net/worldmap/wm-movie.gif), the sun is a...

bad pixels?

The white spots remained also in the next frames, until a new dark frame was taken. A dark frame should eliminate bad pixels, but sometimes dark frames might be exposed to unexpected external light that reduce their effectiveness. This is not likely to happen, but we can see a possible example from ...
