It's so SHINY!
Well, that'll change in a year or two.

25.000 x 15.000 pixels. That's a LOT of pixels! Excellent work. Thanks for not psychedelicizing it with Hydrogen, Oxygen, Sulfur colorization and supersaturation.
As Ann says, the annotation is great.

With moon near full, and sun still up, the moon is waxing. You get some insane contrast effects when taking photos in the anti-solar direction at that time. Check out "anti-crepuscular rays".

Re: APOD: Eye of Moon (2020 Dec 02)

Which arch? With that many people, it's obviously one of the more famous ones. NOT "Delicate Arch". The terrain at the park is bumpy enough that it's surprising someone could get to a stable spot far enough away to make the moon look so big inside the span. Perhaps done after talking with ...

Two comments:
Those are some awfully sharp shards Osiris sampled. It doesn't look like there's been much shifting or micro erosive impacts on the surface.

Is that a plastic tarp around the sampling arm? It sure looks it.

Re: APOD: NGC 5643: Nearby Spiral Galaxy from... (2020 Oct 05)

.... Just new and multiple sets of data used. The telescope nearly always points at a different angle when viewing objects at separate "visits" (each time it looks at an object is called a visit) and the result is diffraction spikes at all different angles. It had me wondering just how ma...

Where the diffraction spikes on foreground stars enhanced on this image? They look really strong when compared to this Hubble photo of NGC 5643 at Wikipedia: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... C_5643.png

No planets for you, GW Orionis. The eccentric orbit of the third star is really messing things up.

South pole is likely NOT a good spot for backpacking. That's a remarkable set of stripes down there. I wonder what drives the asymmetry with the North pole?

Re: APOD: Orion in Depth (2020 Sep 19)

This presentation of Orion would make a beautiful large scale artwork. With properly intense and colored LEDs, you could fill a room with it, and there would be one location from which you could see familiar old Orion. -Given the distances, that spot might have to be down a hallway.

Is that a nearly polar view? Those clouds look nothing like bands you see near the equator.
