The foreground bright blue stars are well explained elsewhere, but I've got a question about the background to them. There is a blue haze behind them.
Is that misty blue haze made up of other stars in that galaxy?
Thanks for answering this newbe's question.

Re: APOD: NGC 6814: Grand Design Spiral Galaxy... (2020 Aug 16)
A random question on today's Grand Design Galaxy is this: How far into the yellow color of this black hole would a normal star survive? And could that star be such that it still maintained planets -- if it had any to begin with? it is easy to imagine those stars in the arms as normal, but once a sta...

Saturn - Rings, Distant Earth & moon mere pinpricks
.. Today's (5/27/20) APOD photo... It is a shot thru one of Saturn's rings, and seeing "pin-pricks of light lying about 1.4 billion kilometers distant" that are the earth and moon. Question: Those two objects (our earth and moon) seem so close and easy to see from Saturn. I don't find Satu...

Rubins Galaxy
Today's APOD is Rubins Galaxy. At the center, it appears to whirlpool down toward its singularity. If seen from the underside would it appear to whirlpool down as well?

James Webb
Aside from looking deeper into space, what new revelations should we expect to see with the James Webb? Will the Webb take us further toward the big bang and fine-tuning of the age of the Universe? If so, how far into the beginning of spacetime? What will the various filtering show us? Will we be ab...

Re: James Webb
Sorry about not using the "cafe" Orin.
I'm a newbe and didn't know it existed. Now I do and will browse and post questions like this one there.
I will copy and paste my original question in the Cafe. That may be "doubling up" but will serve the purpose.
Hope you approve.

Europa - APOD today, 11/29
Have we landed on Europa?
Have we drilled into it's surface to prove there is water below?
Have we drilled cores to see what is in the ice of Europa?
Does Europa keep only one side toward Jupiter or does it rotate?

Re: APOD: Apollo 12 and Surveyor 3 Stereo View (2019 Nov 23)
I've got to remember not to think of our astronauts just as astronauts. They are people and they have other skills, hobbies, opinions, experiences. Many have given us perfectly framed and focused photos and we take for granted these shots were just "lucky" or something that wasn't carefull...
