Re: Books Related to Astronomy (Fiction, Non-fiction)
Terence Dickinson - NightWatch (non-fiction) may have been mixed up with Nightfall by Isaac Asimov & Robert Silverberg (fiction) Oops, sorry, that definitely was a mix up. Thanks Case and starsurfer for your recommendations. Please keep me posted if you chance upon any other great books ...

Re: What did you see in the sky tonight?
Happened to wake up just before dawn and see Mercury just above the horizon. I can now claim to have seen all classical planets! Yay.

Re: What did you see in the sky tonight?
I live in New Delhi, India. It's one of my life's goals to move to some place where the skies are really clear, so much so that I actually do dream about seeing the Milky Way and the Dipper (because I never have), the Pleiades, and all these other beautiful things. I fantasize about being familiar w...

Re: What did you see in the sky tonight?
I haven't ever really seen the Pleiades, because the sky is almost never dark where I live, but I reckon that the faint, fuzzy little cloud with an occasional twinkle a couple degrees from Aldebaran that I've been seeing (or imagining) is the real deal.

Re: Pets
Here's my pup Kaaju (which means cashew in HIndi). I'd originally named him Cosmo.
He just turned one last month. He's my baby, and he's a handful.- Sun Apr 03, 2016 4:25 am

Re: Introductions: How did you become interested in astronomy?
Great stories here! I can't recall when it was that I realised I felt strongly about astronomy. It might've been when I was in school, third grade or earlier. I also don't recall when it became a habit to go out and look for a familiar star or two every night, in the midst of all the haze. I vaguely...

Re: What did you see in the sky tonight?
I live in New Delhi, India. It has been particularly cloudy around bedtime lately. I managed to see Sirius (not Vega) from in-between the clouds, but Orion had been hiding from sight. I try to wake up later to catch Orion, when the clouds have gone to bed too.

A shame that it should be so. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder - sadly, not in the beholder's artificial detector.

Re: APOD: Jupiter and Venus from Earth (2015 Oct 25)
Here's how my cellphone thought it looked.
Though it was a lot more beautiful really, and the fact that I could clearly see two planets (and glimpse the third one occasionally) at dawn was overwhelming.

Re: What did you see in the sky tonight?
Saw the moon in its full glory, and Sirius, before bed last night. Missed my alarm to watch Orion (yeah, I do that). Did not miss my alarm at dawn to catch the Venus-Jupiter-Mars (extremely bright-quite bright-faint, in that order) conjunction. :) Tried to take a photo with my cellphone camera, came...
