Re: APOD: Cathedral, Mountain, Moon (2023 Dec 25)

Re: APOD: Cathedral, Mountain, Moon (2023 Dec 25)

I also live in Turin, and not knowing the place from which you can see the alignment does not allow you to say this shot is fake. Listen my advice: take a walk/ride/drive towards Castagneto Po in a beautiful day and see for yourself :ssmile: Visto che sei di Torino te lo spiego in italiano; io ho v...

Re: APOD: Cathedral, Mountain, Moon (2023 Dec 25)

I live in Turin (Torino) where Superga's Basilica is; only one who does not live in Turin can be supposed to think that this shot is true; it's only a tremendous fake. I also live in Turin, and not knowing the place from which you can see the alignment does not allow you to say this shot is fake. L...

Re: Submissions: 2023 January

Clouds are one of the recurrent nightmares for people trying to take pictures of the sky. But not this time. It was a clear evening on Jan, 25th on the Italian side of the Alps: Jupiter and the Moon, in conjunction, were slowly setting towards Mount Viso, one of the iconic peaks of the Western Alps....

Valchiusella, Italian Alps. Looks like Orion the Hunter, tired from the path made along the sky, wants to immerse himself in the waterfall to relieve his tired feet. Re: Submissions: 2021 June

It only happens with Straberry Moon. Turin, North Italy. Only in June it happens to see the full Moon, the historic Basilica of Superga and the pyramidal silhouette of Mount Viso a few degrees away from each other. But it is a parallax illusion: from where the picture was taken Superga is 11 km away...

Re: APOD: The Milky Way over Snow-Capped Himalayas (2020 May 26)

Thanks MarkBour for having found the right place. The problem with composite images is that sometimes the result is messy: the MIlky Way orientation doesn't look right for the place and anyway good luck if you try to spot the MW center int the first part of the night ("over three hours, just af...

Hi Neufer, I thought that a line on a photo can go anywhere (=perspective), but a reflection can only point straight at you. Anyway, I love he confidence of those guys parking their white cars. A "line of reflection" of a bright light source, as seen from the point of view from a small ca...
