The finest lunar crescent in phase 0.01 and the planet Mercury, basking in the dawn colors, became close only 2° to each other. The height of the moon at the time of shooting did not exceed 3.5 ° above th...

Coddington Nebula, IC2574. This inconspicuous introvert galaxy coexists in the sky with a bright pair of M81 / M82 and astrophotographers often bypass it. But this time it could not escape the experienced view of Oleg Milantiev, who shot it with three astrographs and accumulated a total of 60 hours...

Petroglyphs of atacameños tribe. One night in the Atacama I was at altitude of 3500 meters, among the rocks, which in the past served as shelter from the sun for travelers. Many of them are covered with petroglyphs, reflecting the everyday concerns of the ancient atacameños. On the rocks you can fi...

Re: Submissions: 2016 December
Starry night over Cordillera Paine. In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. And at nightfall, it becomes even more beautiful. But the moment is fleeting. Arch of the Milky Way will soon disappear under the horizon. The moon is behind the rocks. And the moonlight illumi...

Portal In the Atacama desert near Laguna Tebinquinche there are the two round lakes. The water is almost fresh and you can swim. Because of the similarity with the eyes(viewed from above) they call them "Ojos del Salar" - Salty Eyes. In the picture shows only one "eye", but if y...

Milky Way over the cliffs of Torres del Paine. On the sky we can see dust clouds of the southern Milky Way. Did you know that the cosmology of the Incas operates not only the constellations, but also the dark dust nebulae? Dark gaps in the Milky Way take pride of place in the myths and legends of t...

Torres del Paine - Granite skyscrapers of Patagonia To make this picture I had to rise at night to the rocks. I got to the end of the Hiking trail, but the angle for the shot was bad so I continued to climb up. It was very extreme. The stones slipped from under my feet and and rolled down. The rise...
