Another APOD I can't see - presumably because it is a video file format ? :(

Re: APOD: Meteors, Planes, and a Galaxy over... (2014 May 19

Wonderful picture. It has now pushed me over the edge - I am going to try to do photos like this. Any suggestions anyone? To help you get orientatated I have camera and tripod - software and method is what I'm looking for. Thanks

The text explanation mentions that several geological processes have been identified in the canyon - anyone know what they are?

Thanks for the analemma calculations - seems quite easy as long as you know the orbital shape / equation of time?

Re: APOD: Jupiter's Great Red Spot from Voyager 1 (2014 May

The detail in this image is really amazing - all those swirls and eddys. This has to be on my list of favourite APODs

Re: Favorite APOD

I don't know how to choose either; although it is very close to home, the Iceland volcano cloud and lightning has to rank as one of the most memorable for me... http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140420.html at the opposite end of the scale, the Hubble Deep field view gets me thinking... http://apod.nasa.g...

Very impressive - those explosions were a surprise. Had a quick look at the Illustris website - there is lots more available there for those who have the time to explore. I will definitely be doing so. The video will be an excellent classroom activity with which to start a discussion.

Re: APOD: Galaxy Cluster Magnifies Distant... (2014 May 05)

I find this such a remarkable image. The supernova itself is amazing to see, but aside from this, the way the light from the background galaxy/galaxies is smeared around the big foreground galaxy in concentric rings - wow!
